Solar price pages by state
Each state page combines the growing Home Solar Atlas homeowner quote sample with a clearly labeled August 2026 marketplace comparison benchmark. When stricter sample thresholds are reached, state pages also show installer-level and three-digit ZIP price observations.
Displayed card prices are external EnergySage Marketplace residential solar pricing comparison benchmarks, not Home Solar Atlas homeowner medians. States without a current published state figure use the labeled U.S. fallback on their detail page.
How to read this dataset
- $ / W uses the solar-only cash price divided by DC system size. Battery, roofing and separately itemized non-solar work are excluded where the submitter provides those amounts separately.
- The median is our primary price measure because it is less sensitive than an average to unusually high or low quotes. We also show the 25th-75th percentile range, labeled “middle 50%.”
- Average $ / W remains visible as a secondary descriptive statistic rather than the headline market number.
- Financed contract values can include dealer fees or other financing costs, so we ask for the solar-only cash-equivalent price whenever the proposal provides it.
- Submissions remain pending until reviewed and approved.
- State statistics and individual quote examples are not published until at least three approved quotes are available for that state.
- System-size, financing and quarterly segments require at least five approved quotes in that slice before they are displayed.
- Installer-level rows require at least five approved quotes for the same normalized installer name.
- ZIP3 rows require at least seven approved quotes in the same three-digit ZIP area. Full ZIP codes are not returned by the local intelligence endpoint.
- “Sample maturity” is based only on approved record count. It is not a statistical confidence score and does not claim that the sample represents every installer or homeowner in a market.
- Coverage counts show how many ZIP3 areas, installer names, months and equipment combinations are represented without publishing the underlying ZIP prefixes.
- Public example quotes show only the quote month, not the exact day, and never display ZIP code, homeowner contact details or street address.
