What counts as a Home Solar Atlas price?

• We normalize approved homeowner submissions to solar-only cash-equivalent dollars per watt.
• The median is the primary Home Solar Atlas price statistic; the average remains visible only as a secondary descriptive number.
• The 25th-75th percentile range is shown as the “middle 50%” to communicate spread without letting one extreme quote define the range.
• Battery, roofing and separately itemized non-solar work should be excluded from the solar-only price.
• Financed contract totals may include dealer fees, so cash-equivalent solar price is preferred for market comparisons.
• Public state statistics and example quotes appear only after at least three approved submissions are available for the market.
• System-size, financing and quarterly slices require at least five approved records before publication.
• Installer-level rows require at least five approved quotes for the same normalized installer name.
• ZIP3 rows require at least seven approved quotes in the same three-digit ZIP area. Full ZIP codes are never published by the local intelligence endpoint.
• Sample maturity describes record count only; it is not a statistical confidence score or a claim of statewide representativeness.
• Coverage metrics report only counts of ZIP3 areas, installers, months and equipment combinations, not the underlying ZIP prefixes.
• Public examples never display street address, ZIP code or homeowner contact information.
