Why this checklist comes before price comparison
A battery-package total is difficult to interpret if one proposal includes gateway hardware, load controls, permitting and electrical upgrades while another prices those items separately. The checklist is designed to make the underlying contract fields explicit before you compare quoted dollars per usable kWh.
Checked does not mean independently verified by Home Solar Atlas. It means you found the item in the written proposal or confirmed it against current manufacturer or installer documentation.
Keep four battery concepts separate
- Usable kWh — stored energy available to the modeled load.
- Continuous discharge kW — sustained backed-up load capability.
- Short-duration surge kW — motor-start and temporary peak capability.
- Charging kW — how quickly available surplus solar or another charging source can replenish storage.

What should a home battery quote include?
At minimum, confirm the exact battery model, full-unit count, usable storage, battery-package price, continuous and surge-power context, installed charging limit, gateway or controller scope, backup-panel or load-control work, required electrical upgrades, permits or inspection, taxes and written warranty responsibilities.
Can I print the Home Battery Quote Checklist for an installer meeting?

Does checking every item mean the battery quote is good?
No. Checklist completion means the tracked fields have been reviewed; it is not an installer rating, product recommendation, electrical approval or contract certification. A complete quote can still be expensive, poorly designed or incompatible with the homeowner's backup goals.
Does the checklist save my installer quote or price?
No. The checklist does not ask for installer prices, names, contact information or uploaded proposal files. When browser session storage is available, it stores only the IDs of checklist items marked confirmed for the current browser tab or session so a reload can restore the checkmarks.
Can I copy the items I still need to ask the installer about?
Yes. Copy missing items creates a neutral verification list from the unchecked checklist entries. The copied text does not add an installer package price, custom installer label or contact information.
