A missing package price, missing manual usable capacity or missing manual charge-power limit is treated as a blocker for the relevant calculation. An excluded/separately priced scope item or a catalog charging-power data gap stays visible as a follow-up item instead of being converted into a score. A package marked data-complete is not certified, recommended or proven compatible.
Use one deterministic next action instead of another score
When a package still needs work, Home Solar Atlas follows a fixed data-completion order rather than trying to rank the installer. Confirm usable storage first because capacity affects both storage-normalized pricing and outage sizing. Then enter the quoted battery-package total. For a manual battery, confirm the total system charge-power limit before relying on the outage handoff.
After the core technical and price inputs are present, resolve scope items still marked unclear, then confirm the separate cost or responsibility for items marked excluded/separate. If the only remaining issue is a catalog charge-power data gap, verify the installed charging limit with current manufacturer or installer documentation. Why battery-package comparison needs more than total price
A $20,000 battery quote and a $25,000 battery quote are not directly comparable if they contain different amounts of usable storage. Dividing each confirmed package total by installed usable kWh makes the storage quantity explicit without pretending the installation scopes are identical.
Keep battery $/usable kWh separate from solar $/W. The battery metric normalizes storage capacity; solar $/W normalizes the PV portion. Neither metric measures installer quality, electrical complexity or contract coverage by itself.
Turn scope gaps into questions for the installer
When a tracked item is unclear, the tool creates a direct question asking whether it is included. When an item is marked excluded/separate, it asks for the separate installed price or responsibility. Missing workmanship/service warranty information also creates a written-term question.
